In a surprise ceremony at the 18th Annual AYR-EYFS Breakfast, Dick Brugger (“Mr. AYR”) was honored for his 21 years of dedicated leadership to Auburn Youth Resources and Enumclaw Youth & Family Services. Dr. Kim Anardi presented the tribute which included the news that the AYR Main Counseling Building will change its name to the Brugger Building. King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer was on hand to present Dick with a proclamation honoring his years of dedicated services for at-risk youth and families. Next, Auburn Mayor Pete Lewis proclaimed February 13, 2009 as “Dick Brugger Day”. Mayor Lewis went on to say, “Dick has done so much for so many people. He has touched so many lives. You will always be the poet of Auburn”. Dick received a standing ovation from the 600 guests in attendance. The annual event helps the agencies sustain their services and makes sure that no child or family will be turned away from services due to the lack of the ability to pay for them. This year’s event has raised over $70,000 to support the children and families of South King County. David Bowen of Luminart graciously donated the new sign for the AYR Brugger Building. |
